Afrah Shafiq × India Art Fair × BMW ‘Future is Born of Art’
Afrah Shafiq’s India Art Fair facade, part of The Future is Born of Art with BMW India, took the form of a giant embroidery sampler. The sampler had more than 150 counted-thread motifs gathered from traditions around the world, some centuries old.
I worked with Afrah on Sample This!, a custom app we developed for the experience which made the embroidery come to life in augmented reality. The app also had a motif gallery that unpacked where each motif came from and what it meant in the culture it belonged to.
